The Brookfield Long Lunch - A Day Out to Remember: Brisbane Event Photography

What a beautiful day out at the Brookfield Long Lunch! I think next time instead of photographing the event I’d like to attend it haha Held at the Brookfield Showgrounds the event is the Annual Brookfield Show Society fundraiser.

Seeing the many people walking in across the showgrounds, through the nature archway, from every corner possible with their baskets of food, blankets, beautiful outfits, it was an unreal sight to see! I love capturing the event photography for the day which included posed and candid imagery of attendees, details of the day, sponsors and the event atmosphere.

See some of the great captures of the day below, I think Andy & I will get ourselves a table next year with some of our business friends and clients :)

Celebrating International Women's Day with our Clients: Brisbane Fitness, Family & Wedding Photography

Today we celebrate and support the achievements, success, motherhood, goals, inspiration, beauty and integrity of our fellow beautiful women, with International Women’s Day.

As a woman who works with women regularly in my role as a portrait and commercial photographer I want to share with you some (I wish I could put EVERYONE on here) of the beautiful people I have come across and their stories. I love to shout about the successes of other women and them reaching their goals, women being amazing mothers, women smashing their careers and supporting other women…..

Today, reach out to your closest women and share your gratitude for them and show your support to their journey. Today, I celebrate all the wonderful women I’ve got to know over my journey as a photographer and some of these incredible stories!

Lastly but not least, I celebrate ME! My own success, my journey, my influence on others, the people that have touched my life and changed me for the better, my friendships, my family, my happiness. So very grateful to have my health and be on earth the share my purpose with others.

Happy International Women’s Day everyone!

Go on... GET LOST!!! A day at the Woodford Folk Festival

So the other day I jumped in my car, packed the big medium format camera and went for a drive to see what I could see and look at doing some landscape photography…. I had no particular direction in mind, I just wanted to get lost, take random turnings and see where I ended up.

Leaving Brisbane, I drove up to Toowoomba then along the range through Crows Nest, Black Butt, Kilcoy then just before Woodford saw a sign to “Festival”

It was late in the day by then and I had decided to head for Mooloolaba to do a coastal sunset shot but the word Festival stuck in my head.

I captured this shot at Mooloolaba…..

…but while waiting for the light to be right, I jumped online on my phone…. stupidly I never actually realised that the Festival would be the famous Woodford Folk Festival…. I know, I’m an idiot but for some reason I never thought that would be between Christmas and New Year.

Now, I do love my music and folk music included, but I had never really contemplated the Woodford Folk Festival, it never really seemed my thing…. but it is the quiet time between Christmas and New Year, I had time on my hands and so on the way home I decided I would buy a day and night ticket for the next day and just see what happened.

…And what a great decision that was…. what a great festival it is.

I drove back up to Woodford for 10am the next morning and stayed until 11pm that night. Saw great artists including Cat Empire, Butterfingers, Nattali Rize and numerous others. Ate great food, sat and chatted to really interesting and genuine people, and honestly have never relaxed so quickly in all my life… and no that wasn’t because of anything else that people jokingly comment on about being readily available at Woodford.

In all honesty I went not knowing what to expect but found a fantastic, family orientated, all age friendly event with great music, great food, great workshops and an amazingly fun and lovely crowd of thousands of attendees.

You can go at a frantic pace and see as many of the acts as possible or slow right down and just lie in the sun with a beer or gin and tonic near one of the stages and let the atmosphere wash over you. I went for more of the latter than the former :) and just felt the tension built up from a lot of hard work over the past couple of months just drift away.

One day and one night just does not do the festival justice, so the plan is already in place that next year I’ll be taking the camping 4x4 and staying up there. I don’t know if I would do the full five days, but definitely three is on the cards, and I can’t wait.

So the lessons learned (or maybe re-learned)…. take the time to go and get lost, you never know what you might find…. and if you do find something that peaks your interest, just go and do it. You never know you might even find you enjoy yourself.

You're never too old to play! Brisbane Portrait Photographers at Sugar Republic

Being a HUGE lover of everything colour, I had to attend the colourful art installation Sugar Republic that is currently in Brisbane. A pop up museum with rooms full of installations, a ball pit, ice cream tasting and a huge cake!

My best friend Jesse and I had the best time! A must for the kids (or big kid adults hehe). Check out some of the fun below.

Life Portraits get featured in Brisbane Bride Magazine & OnTrend Bridal SUMMER 2018

We have been lucky enough to work with the team at BRISBANE BRIDE Magazine & ONTREND BRIDAL on some of their styled wedding photoshoots as well as being featuring in their real weddings section of their magazines.

The Summer 2018 editions of ONTREND BRIDAL and BRISBANE BRIDE Magazine came out in newsagents from 8 February, so what better way to celebrate than with a get together and networking event with all those involved. Being featured in both magazines and getting to work with the team on these amazing styled shoots, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy the event and take some snaps!

Check out Life Portraits' feature HERE and see some BTS images of the feature and the event below.

Brisbane's Enchanted Garden

If you're looking for something fun to do with the family this Christmas check out Brisbane's The Enchanted Garden at Roma Street Parkland. The gardens have turned into a fairy wonderland with it's beautiful lights, colours and secret fairy doors.

Andy and I had to visit and capture what the iPhone cannot! With only 3 days to go, I would suggest getting there at least an hour early to line up (or you could be waiting a long time). Andy and I arrived for 5.30pm and the gates opened at 6.30pm. If the queue is too long for the kids, never fear, as there are some amazing views from the outside surrounding bridges. While you're in the city, why not take advantage of the outdoor cinema in the park which is next door or the Gold Lotto City Hall Lights or the amazing Christmas Fireworks and South Bank Christmas Markets! Loads to do this Christmas in Brisbane, such a beautiful city we live in :D

We highly recommend paying a visit to the Enchanted Garden, which is still open as per below:

  • 15 Dec, 2017 6:30PM - 15 Dec, 2017 9:30PM

  • 16 Dec, 2017 6:30PM - 16 Dec, 2017 9:30PM

  • 17 Dec, 2017 6:30PM - 17 Dec, 2017 9:30PM
